Nonpartisan Civic Education Initiatives
Overview
Future Voters Academy develops and delivers free, nonpartisan civic education for residents of low-income neighborhoods. Every program we offer is built on a simple idea: regardless of income or background, everyone deserves accurate, accessible information about how government works and how to participate in it.
FVA is nonpartisan. Our content is drawn from public government sources and established civic education organizations — no political parties, no ideological agenda.
Community Workshops
FVA hosts free, in-person community workshops covering the core knowledge residents need to engage with the political process. Workshops are designed for general audiences with no prior political knowledge required.
Topics covered in current and planned workshops include:
- Voter registration: eligibility, deadlines, and how to register
- How elections work at the local, state, and federal level
- The structure of government: legislative, executive, and judicial branches
- Civil rights and how to exercise them
- How to identify and contact elected officials
- How to read and evaluate a ballot
Workshops are free to attend. Organizations, community centers, and housing authorities interested in hosting a session are encouraged to contact us.
Voter Education Materials
FVA develops and distributes printed materials written in plain language for general audiences. Materials cover voting rights, ballot access, and how to participate in the political process at every level. All content is reviewed for factual accuracy and nonpartisanship before distribution.
We currently focus distribution on:
- Low-income housing communities and public housing developments
- Community centers and neighborhood associations
- Public libraries and literacy programs
- Social service organizations and food pantries
Organizations wishing to receive materials or partner on distribution should reach out at fva.info.contact@gmail.com.
Civic Literacy Curriculum
FVA is developing a structured civic literacy curriculum for use in informal education settings such as community centers, after-school programs, and workforce development organizations. The curriculum covers foundational knowledge about U.S. government, how laws are made, and how citizens can participate beyond voting.
The curriculum is designed for adult learners and will be made available to partner organizations at no cost upon completion.
Upcoming Programming
We're currently planning our first public workshop series in Pierce and Ware Counties. Dates, times, and locations will be posted here as they're confirmed.
If your organization is interested in hosting a session or partnering with FVA, we'd love to hear from you. We welcome partnerships with libraries, churches, schools, housing authorities, and civic organizations.
